OBJECTIVE
This position supports the objectives of the Sales Department by providing guidance, support, coaching, and consistent engagement to Hino dealers across the assigned territory. The District Sales Manager is responsible for supporting dealer sales performance, customer engagement, business planning activities, and execution of Hino programs within the region.
This position is based at our Mississauga, Ontario head office. The successful candidate will be a highly organized professional with strong planning and time management skills. The role requires monthly travel across Western Canada, with travel comprising approximately 70% of the position.
DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
This position is designed as a developmental opportunity for an individual looking to build a long-term career in commercial vehicle sales, dealer development, and fleet operations. The successful candidate will receive mentorship, coaching, and leadership support from Hino Motors Canada while developing the skills required to manage dealer relationships, support territory growth, and drive sales performance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Hino dealers using a solutions-based sales approach focused on customer needs, business value, and long-term dealer growth.
- Build strong working relationships with dealer principals, dealer sales teams, and fleet customers through regular communication and field engagement.
- Conduct dealer business reviews and support dealer leadership in tracking performance, pipeline activity, inventory levels, and sales objectives.
- Interpret key sales and operational metrics including quoting activity, conversion rates, stock turns, delivery timing, and program usage, with support and guidance from Hino leadership as required.
- Partner with dealer sales personnel during customer engagements to strengthen value positioning and support fleet sales opportunities.
- Reinforce structured sales processes with dealer teams, including qualification, pipeline management, follow-up discipline, and opportunity tracking.
- Support dealers in communicating Hino’s competitive strengths, total support model, and total cost of ownership advantages to fleet customers.
- Identify dealer execution gaps and work collaboratively with dealer leadership to improve sales effectiveness and territory performance.
- Support alignment between Hino national programs and dealer-level execution to ensure programs are positioned consistently and effectively in the market.
- Participate in strategic discussions with dealer leadership regarding market opportunities, sales planning, inventory management, and growth initiatives.
- Support achievement of district sales objectives and market share growth across the assigned territory.
- Monitor dealer inventory, retail activity, reporting accuracy, and compliance with Hino standards and policies.
- Assist with onboarding and development activities for new dealers and support operational readiness initiatives where required.
- Represent Hino Motors Canada at industry events, trade shows, dealer meetings, and customer events.
- Maintain regular communication with internal Hino departments including sales operations, logistics, customer experience, and marketing.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 to 3 years of sales, account management, customer service, or related business experience preferred.
- Interest in developing a career in commercial vehicle sales, dealer development, fleet operations, or transportation.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working with customers, dealers, and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to organize priorities and manage multiple activities across a large geographic territory.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Post-secondary education in business, sales, marketing, transportation, or a related field considered an asset.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid G / Class 5 driver’s license or provincial equivalent required.
- DZ / Class 3 license or provincial equivalent considered an asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on dealer or customer needs.
