Luxury Living: A Full Home Makeover

For this project we redesigned the entire home, upgrading this long-time family home to meet the current desires of its owners. Each room was designed to maximize efficiency, comfort, style and function. We removed a wall between the exiting kitchen and bedrooms, significantly enlarging the kitchen.

A powder room was designed into the home where the laundry room used to be, and laundry was relocated to the master wing of the home. Off the kitchen we added a walk in pantry for storing added kitchen appliances and food items, keeping the kitchen clutter free. A wall between the dining room and kitchen was partially removed, making entertaining more inclusive.

Each space was finished with custom finishes, cabinetry and decor to complete the home the William Standen™ way.

Kitchen

The new kitchen, along with the new walk in pantry features more than a 50% increase in storage and over 65% increase in countertop space. A faux brick backsplash ties into some of the existing beloved features of the home. We incorporated a new window on the main kitchen wall to maximize the view of the St. Clair River. Durable, stain-proof marble-like quartz countertops add strength and style to the space, while top of the line appliances ensure gourmet meals will be created with more ease. A large island boasts plenty of seating because this family has a love of entertaining, and the cooking zone maximizes workflow.

Office

The homeowner wanted a space to work from home, make a coffee, read and relax. We moved a wall in the existing room to enlarge the space, and added a nook with a sink to make beverages. A focal point of this space is the hand printed tone-on-tone European wallpaper which adds texture and elegance. The live edge walnut countertops, made in-house at William Standen™ bring the outside in and add that touch of hygge. Wall to wall custom, and adjustable bookshelves house the family’s treasured book collection and leather recliner chairs offer a cozy spot to read and relax.

Powder Room

This bathroom is the one that all guests will use and we wanted to bring that wow-factor. The custom vanity was made in-house by our talented team and completed with a custom stain, concrete sink and quartz top. The hand-printed European wallpaper creates the focal for this wall and creates a look like no-other paired with the vanity and sconces. We went with a herringbone installation pattern for the dark tile floor to resemble that of a vintage eurocentric path.

Pantry

The existing home did not have a pantry and to meet the storage needs of these home chefs, we designed a new walk- in pantry complete with a sliding barn door, right off the kitchen. What used to be a hall closet and part of the old home office, is now this sleek and uber functional pantry. We added a recessed wall niche for extra spices, maximizing storage and leaving no wall space to go to waste. Function at its finest.

Closet

The homeowner loves shoes and purses and we wanted to give them a space to see them all, and keep them organized. The new walk in closet features ample space for bags, shoes, long hanging clothing, and drawers for folded items. The island with an in-house custom made walnut countertop provides a landing space and when the door to the closet is closed, the backside features a full custom length mirror.
